— SRINAGAR, India (Reuters) - Indian Kashmir's police chief said on Thursday security forces had arrested a Pakistani militant who they said was involved in the massacre of 24 Hindus in a remote village last month.

Suspected Muslim militants, fighting New Delhi's rule in the disputed region, lined up men and women outside their homes in Nadimarg village on March 23 and gunned them down, provoking outrage across India.

"He is involved in the Nadimarg massacre of Hindus. He has operated and planned it," Director-General of Police Ashok Kumar Suri, told a news conference in Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir state.

India blamed Lashkar for the attack and accused Islamabad of stoking violence in the Kashmir Valley after the incident. Pakistan condemned the massacre and denied Indian charges that it was behind the incident.
